Our Causes

We have endeavored to make Tavisi so much more than an e-commerce website and digital magazine company: to make it a reflection of who we are, our core beliefs and values, and what we aspire to collectively build as a brand. In every step of the way, from Tavisi’s conceptualization and initialization to its implementation, we have tried to own our story with honesty.

Doing our part for the community has always been intrinsic to our brand as well as personal values – all the more so because we ourselves met while volunteering for a women empowerment organization. And, while we are a small business with constraints, we have made a genuine effort to support the causes we have chosen to embrace.

When you place an order with us, every delivery that you will receive will come with a card made by a student from one of the organizations that we are working in collaboration with. #tavisi, #tav, #nepal, #ecommerce, #DigitalMagzine, #onlineshopping, #retail, #media, #girls, #women, #community,

Our hope: that the card brings a smile to your face.

Our intention: to spread the word and provide greater visibility to organizations committed to working for women empowerment, social change and the greater good of society.

Saathi is a non-governmental organization established in 1992 to address different forms of violence and discrimination faced by Nepali women and girls. It was the first organization that was instrumental in drawing significant national attention towards domestic violence in Nepal as an area requiring urgent attention and intervention to break the silence that impacts the lives of many marginalized women and girls. It has persistently continued its crusade for creating a safe and violence-free society where women and children can live with respect and dignity.

Motto: “We can make a Difference. We must make a Difference.”

Mary Ward High School, Lubhu, Lalitpur, was established in 1997. It is under the management of the Sisters of the Congregation of Jesus founded by an English Lady, Mary Ward, in 1609. It is an international institution especially devoted to the education of youth.

In the early eighties, sensing the crying need of hundreds of poor children in the area, informal education was begun in the premises of St. Mary’s School. Gradually in 1986, Mary Ward School Jhamsikhel was born as a formal school. It could only provide very basic education as the physical facilities were very limited. Therefore, in 1997 with the help of many friends and benefactors, an extension of the Mary Ward School was opened in Lubhu. It accommodated the students completing Grade 5 in Jhamsikhel as well as the underprivileged girls of Lubhu and its nearby villages. The institution admits girls of all communities irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The school imparts not only academic education to girls, but also helps them form an integrated personality by developing in them a strong character, love of truth, respect, loyalty, a sense of justice and the necessity for honest and hard work.

Physical training, social and cultural activities and other extracurricular activities are given adequate place in their education to make them disciplined and notable citizens. Moral education, taught to all children, intends on inculcating the right values and attitudes in them.

Mary Ward School aims at creating individuals who are confident to face life. Believing the powerful agent of social transformation, it moves towards the empowerment of women and formation of students, inculcating in them a sense of justice, religious tolerance, compassion and love. Making them aware of the value system of the world in which they live, students are enabled to analyze critically and make responsible decisions for themselves. The school aspires towards creating a humane society free from prejudice, superstition and discrimination based on sex, religion, caste and economic status, and characterized by respect for the dignity of all humans, leading to concern for each other.

They are led to appreciate God’s creation, value life, human dignity and potential and thus to pursue fullness of life.
